The balance of old and new is too enticing for me to not take notice and immerse myself! So it was with great pleasure that I recently embarked on my own journey around the Cube of Karma, with Tom Evans as my guide.

Before I begin, I think it would be good to enlighten you as to how I came across Tom. I was speaking at a 3 day event about spirituality and Tom was due to speak on the 3rd day, the Sunday. He joined us on the Saturday evening whilst there was a charity auction to raise money for 2 local charities.

I volunteer at one of the charities and am not usually ‘the auction type’, this particular evening I’d decided I would just sit back and let it pass me by. If anything I might bid first to get things going and then sit back and let events unfold. Well, was I in for a surprise – my head was definitely not in charge that evening!

As it was announced that certain people had volunteered their time for bids, my stomach and heart started fluttering and as Tom was introduced and before he even got to the stage my arm was up in the air and waving like a mad thing!

I think I was more surprised than anyone, I even laughed and commented to the others on my table that I had no idea quite why I was bidding as it had certainly not been in my head to do so!

One thing I have learnt, is that what I think in my head may not always be right and I do trust my body senses and feelings far more these days – so I was perfectly happy to go with it. Needless to say I was successful in my bid! Actually I bid on two more auction lots that evening and that event was a great turning point for me. The next morning I remember feeling so peaceful and happy and comfortable with my purchases and even more so with my decision.

You see I have spent a lot of my life hiding, not revealing the true me for a whole host of reasons and circumstances.

Last year I made a commitment to myself that I would step out more and become more visible. I have often been the person in the background helping others, despite many requests to speak or present alongside various other opportunities, I usually declined. One of those was even with a producer of a tv programme.

I’m going to share my personal journey on my website as The Cube is a useful and powerful metaphor for our of spiritual development andgrowth and is relevant to us all. I’ve already noticed some positive changes to my life and am eager to share processes, habits and techniques that actually work. 

This kind of work goes much deeper than just being aware of your aura colour and shape, it is more about your life path, the human journey and the experience and learning of your soul.

It was a delightfully easy read and the simple tasks within it, turned out to be quite profound, certainly for me. It very quickly made several things crystal clear to me, things that had been getting in my way. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to see those blocks written down on the page and the realisations that came from that, although it seems extreme, well, they certainly have the potential to be life changing!

This was quite a revelation to me as I am no stranger to self development (personal and spiritual) and our subconscious minds etc – what I discovered was a simple yet very effective process for bringing clarity and really highlighting my greater purpose. Translated, the word means wheel or a spinning disc. This is because, that was precisely how the visionaries and mystics of ancient times interpreted the energy in and around the human body.  We see the same thing in nature – as two energy systems meet, they flow and combine into a cyclical, turning motion. Think of two cloud systems meeting, forming a cyclone, or where two rivers meet, the water swirls in a whirlpool effect. It even happens in your coffee cup when you add milk! It is just the same motion with the chakra energies too.

Although we tend to talk chiefly about there being seven chakras, there are many more. To keep things simple though, we will concentrate on the basic seven chakras. These seven run up the length of the spine and from there they blossom out into the various layers of the auric field.

The seven chakras starting from the base of the spine up to the top of the head are called:

•             Base or Root Chakra

•             Sacral Chakra

•             Solar Plexus Chakra

•             Heart Chakra

•             Throat Chakra

•             Third Eye Chakra

•             Crown Chakra

The chakras each take in energy and they also let it out as well – similar to how we inhale and exhale when we breathe.

Personally, I usually see them more as funnels. Imagine taking a spinning disc and pulling it up and out (just as a pot on the potter’s wheel) so that it becomes a 3D spiralling funnel. This funnel is pure energy, fused with your own personal essence. This includes your hopes, your fears, your beliefs, even your thoughts and habits! In this way, your chakra energy links with your well – being and general health – not just on the physical level but equally on psychological, emotional and spiritual levels too.

Each of the seven chakras is connected via a wonderful network of miniature routes – your intricate lifelines, literally your life force. These meridians of energy cover the body, inside and out. The result is a magnificent matrix or unique tapestry, which is totally unique to you.

With all this energy, moving in and out, it naturally follows that the chakras and the aura are very closely related. As the energy centres expel outwards, they spill into the aura. Equally, the aura affects the chakras as it is from there, they draw their energy in.

When I say energy, it is not just our life force energy I refer to. The chakras act as filters, in a sponge like manner, to the other energies around us. Such energies could include the more obvious ones from your appliances and devices, like mobile phones and microwaves. However many more are not so obvious such as the energy of thoughts, feelings, even words – regardless of whether they are our own or those of other people.

Hence, the environment you find yourself in, is vitally important. You can no doubt relate to feeling differently when you are in the city or a built up area to you do when you are in a more natural environment, like the forest or park. Although you may not have considered it this way before, there is a definite energy linked to our thoughts, actions and words. Someone shouting abuse displays and gives off a very different energy to someone talking peacefully, singing a song or saying a prayer. It’s obvious when you think about it, but also incredibly easy to overlook.

Just because we can’t readily see the energy with our own eyes, it doesn’t mean we don’t feel it. We may not be consciously aware of it but it does have a resonance and a consequence to us. Consider how you feel when you listen to different types of music, some tunes inspire you to move, some to sing loudly, some can evoke tears and memories. Your ears may hear the music but how you feel about it is interpreted elsewhere- through your intricate network of energy.

When you work with Reiki, or any spiritual healing, for yourself or others, you are channelling down a higher vibrational energy, to bring balance or a much needed energy boost. Often we will direct it to a particular area or chakra, depending on what is right and relevant.

It is not uncommon for some chakras to be overactive and we may need to siphon the energy away, possibly to a weaker chakra in the system, thereby bringing balance overall.

It is not a quick fix, but a process of realizations and understanding, simply explained and do-able by just about anyone. it is not something to be rushed, it is a whole load of experiences to be enjoyed!

Knowing we have an aura, in and of itself doesn’t do that much BUT IT OPENS A DOORWAY TO SEEING THE WORLD IN A WHOLE NEW LIGHT.

A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY AND POSSIBILITIES.

There are a great many but we will concentrate on the accepted main seven.

These are, starting from the base of the spine, up to the top of the head;

• The Base Chakra
• The Sacral Chakra
• The Solar Plexus Chakra
• The Heart Chakra
• The Throat Chakra
• The Third Eye Chakra
• The Crown Chakra

These energy centres are often depicted or described as spinning discs or as being funnels that open and shut, taking in and letting out energy, whether that be on a mental, emotional, spiritual or even physical level.

They are often referrred to as wheels or discs, because that is the literla meaning of the Ancient word Chakra.

It is clear then that the chakras must affect the aura as they let energy out and the aura affects the chakras as it is from there, they draw energy in.

So the environment we find ourselves in, is very important. you can no doubt relate to feeling differently when you are sitting in the park or outside, to when you are in a city, surrounded by noise and chaos.

Each of the chakras has a much deeper meaning and significance independently and also as part of the whole aura and body systems.

We relate colours to each of these chakras, which parallels the colours we use to describe and interpret the aura, although there are a lot more and a great many variations within that too!

The reason behind this is that each chakra has it’s own unique frequency it resonates at, so does each and every colour.

The colours match the chakra energy. This is the same with sound – as each chakra also has a specific note that harmonises with it.

I made these two recordings to guide you through a beautifully relaxing process that will not only cleanse and balance your chakras but will help reenergise them too.

One of the recordings works with the conscious mind and mentions the chakras indivdually, the other one works more with the subconscious mind and contains some lovely metaphors to follow and allow your mind and energy to do all the work necessary.

All the while you get to deeply relax.

I came across this active meditation a while ago.

I enjoy doing it outside on a nice day, but it works equally well indoors.

Also, once you have physically done it through once, then it will be much easier for you to visualise the whole process at times when you can’t physically get to do it , but you still need the energy boost or protection.

I have added in a silver layer, to act as a protective layer to the aura.

Ideally you would take longer to do this than here in this video clip – this is just a very simple outline.

You may find some colours require repeating or longer than others, what’s important is that it feels right for you.

These meanings have evolved over many years, we naturally align certain attributes and aspects to colours every day of the week – whether we realise it or not!

For example - Red is associated with danger & passion, green is with natural & organic themes, blue is with royalty, legal & caring professions.

As you start to work with colour , the auras and the chakras, you will find your own way of interpreting and relaying across to people what you see and feel.

Here is a simple list of some of the most common attributes with a few of the aura colours.

Blue: This is the colour of communication and of honesty, it relates to speaking your truth and how aligned with that you are. It usually reflects ( in it’s positive aspect) the person has a good sense of fairness and justice.  Blue is very often seen around mothers, nurses and carers. Depending on the shade and tone, it can reveal that the person is very quietly spoken and may find  it difficult to express their own point of view.

Yellow: This wonderful sunshine colour often surrounds a bright and optimistic soul. People seem to be naturally drawn to and attracted to this person. They seem to light up the room and often have a very good sense of humour. They tend to be playful souls and have a childlike quality about them, that is appealing.

Orange: Orange can often surround the logical thinker, the analysing soul, trying to work things out. It is also the colour of creative ability and the flow of talent. This colour may often reveal itself more in the darker shades or patchy tones – suggesting that the person is feeling emotionally drained and more than likely feeling blocked.
